With fuel prices soaring, more and more people are asking themselves the following question: "Are there any real work at home jobs that are not scams"? This stems from the fact that a simple internet search for "work from home" or "work at home" yields all sorts of results. Some of them are just flat out scams. Others, like affiliate marketing, multilevel marketing, and the such, are not made for everybody.

In the investing world (and in the business world as well), the formula for success is to "buy low, sell high". Due to its "instant results" nature, the stock market is like a dream come true for investors hoping to strike gold using that exact formula. Although the strategy sounds simple, as most investors (and many non-investors) know, timing the market is a tricky proposition.

History suggests that stocks are the best investment you can make when you're in it for the long haul. No matter the investment vehicle, be it bonds, cash, diamonds, silver, gold, in the long run stocks give the best returns. I read in a lot of places that stocks returns are higher than real estate returns but I don't personally agree. Real estate returns are calculated on the basis of the property's appreciation, but if you want to calculate your personal return on a real estate investment, you have to account for the fact that only part of your investment was financed with your own money.

But some money-saving measures are harder to implement than others, thus easier to fall by the wayside once we decide we "deserve" to be living comfortably.

If you're interested in investing, but are reluctant to fund companies whose practices you disagree with (either on moral, ethical, or environmental grounds), it's probably worth pointing out to you that you have options. And those options are related to the concept of Socially Responsible Investing, or SRI.
Portfolio managers that are involved in SRI (also known as green portfolio managers) tend to direct the funds that they're managing toward competitive public companies that are meeting a certain number of conditions that have been previously set and depend largely on the particular firm's ideals.

If you don't know about the stock market and are trying to learn about it, you are most likely to experience a severe case of information overload.
Do a Google search for "stock market education" or "learn the stock market" and you'll be literally inundated with information. The same holds true if you look an Amazon or walk into a brick-and-mortar bookstore.
