More sellers than buyers. Does that sound familiar? It should, because that's what almost every realtor in Michigan is telling their clients. The housing market is saturated with houses that are for sale in all price ranges, sizes, location, and with every feature you can think of. And the problem is that no one is buying.
There are those who think the end is in sight, and point to indicators like the number of houses listed falling, and even small bubbles of real estate sales jumping back to near-average levels.

There are new federal regulations on mortgage lenders coming out way soon. Recently, President Bush signed a bill into law at the end of July that encourages state regulatory commissions to register all residential loan originators, and creates a national database of lenders that tracks fraudulent activity from state to state. This will keep lenders that have been shit down in one state from moving across the state line and opening up shop to commit the same crime again.

Real Estate Agents make money from selling your house. The typical commission is somewhere between 5% and 7% depending on what part of the country you're in and what type of agreement you negotiate with the realtor. Remember, they're offering a service in a competition-based industry, so don't forget that you are in the driver's seat. There's no shortage of realtors in the country, although there may be a shortage of good realtors in many areas.

Selling your house, especially in today's market, can be a trying experience. I personally know several people who have had their houses on the market for close to two years and have little to show for it except some wasted weekends showing the house and leads that amounted to nothing. The advice that they're gotten from realtors is to lower the price drastically and the house will sell much faster.

The first public face, outside of the original Charm Shoppes store, of Charming Shoppes was the Fashion Bug stores which opened in the 1960's. Considered pioneers of computerized inventory management and sales, Fashion Bug stores were wildly popular and expanded quickly all the way through the 1990's.
In 2000 Charming Shoppes purchased Catherine's Stores Corporation in an effort to firmly plant themselves into the plus size women's clothing market.

You're one of the hundreds of thousands of Americans with a sign in your yard that says "For Sale By Owner". You don't want to pay someone else to do what you can very well accomplish yourself, and in today's housing market, every penny you can squeeze out of your artificially deflated property is important. And contrary to popular belief, having a FSBO sign in your yard isn't a plea for help from the local realtor association.
